Guidelines for Optional Video Abstracts

Purpose of Video Abstracts:

A video abstract is a short, engaging summary of your research that highlights the main findings and significance of your work. Video abstracts are an excellent way to make your research accessible to a broader audience and increase the visibility of your article.

To encourage high-quality video abstracts, the best video abstract from each issue will be featured on the Economic Annals website and promoted on our social media channels.

Video Abstract Content and Structure

Your video abstract should briefly cover:

  • Introduction: A quick overview of the research question and background.
  • Key Findings: A concise summary of the most significant findings.
  • Implications: The broader relevance or potential impact of your research.

Recommended structure:

  1. Briefly introduce yourself (optional)
  2. Explain the context and purpose of the study
  3. Highlight the main results
  4. Discuss the study’s significance or practical implications

Suggested Length: 2–3 minutes

Technical Specifications

To ensure consistency and quality, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • File Format: MP4 or MOV
  • Resolution: Minimum 720p (1080p preferred)
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Audio: Clear audio, free from background noise; if using music, ensure it is royalty-free
  • Language: English (Adding English subtitles or captions is encouraged for accessibility)

Recording Tips:

  • Aim for good lighting, preferably natural light, or use a soft, even artificial light.
  • Position the camera at eye level and ensure a steady recording setup (e.g., use a tripod or stable surface).
  • Avoid distracting backgrounds.

Submission Process

To submit a video abstract:

  1. Prepare your video file following the above specifications.
  2. Upload the video to a file-sharing platform (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox) and provide a download link.
  3. Email the download link to nikola.njegovan@ekof.bg.ac.rs with the subject line: “Video Abstract Submission for [Manuscript ID].”

Submission Deadline: Video abstracts should be submitted within two weeks of manuscript acceptance.

Copyright and Permissions

By submitting a video abstract, you grant Economic Annals permission to display it on our website and social media platforms. If you use any third-party images, audio, or content, please ensure you have the necessary permissions.
